Conduct DPC meeting on priority basis: AAPWU
ITANAGAR, Jan 9: All Arunachal Pradesh Workers Union (AAPWU) has requested the chief engineer, (WZ/EZ) PHE department to direct all the superintending engineers to conduct the DPC meeting within this month.
Claiming that the department has not conducted DPC meeting till date in spite of repeated requests, the Union said that all the W/C cadre employees should be regularized and casual employees be promoted to W/C category as their eligibility through the DPC . The DPC meeting for this purpose should be conducted within January 30, the Union added.
ICC Excellence Award to Binny Yanga
NEW DELHI, Jan 09: Padmashree Binny Yanga, Chairperson of Oju Welfare Association has been awarded the ICC Excellence Award 2013 for her Social Service.

ITANAGAR, Jan 9: The villages of Daporijo Township Area Welfare Association (VDTAWA) has celebrated its 4th general convention in a grand manner at Meg Dong on Dec 30 last. The celebration began with the unfurling of Association flag by VDTAWA president Dr Dujum Dulom in presence of large gathering including advisory members Dr Ligu Tacho, chairman APPSCE, K Dulom, director RD, Tadam Ligu, EE and Ghat Ligu, asstt director PR among others.

Centre accords top priority in rapid development of NE region: Ghatowar

Tongam shooting case: Press fraternity expressconcern over slow pace of investigation, demand update
ITANAGAR, Jan 09: The Arunachal Press Club (APC) and the Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) have expressed serious concern over the slow pace of investigation into the 15th July 2012 Tongam Rina shooting case.
‘Though months have passed but there is no information about which agency is carrying out the investigation. Initially, it was given to understand that the case had been handed over to the CBI, but later there was a conflicting report about the case having been turned down by the CBI,’ the press bodies stated in a release today.
The APC and APWUJ also lamented that the GoAP has not issued any clarification in this regard despite repeated plea by press bodies.
The two bodies also questioned the attitude of Capital Police towards the case. “Having been turned down by the CBI the case has reverted back to Capital Police, and the onus
of investigating it is on the Capital SP. But there has been no update from them in this regard. When enquired by APC members, some officers privately informed that powerful people are involved and therefore it is tough to investigate the case,” the two bodies stated. “The police should name who these powerful people are. The way the police are trying to suppress the case, we doubt their integrity and have a general feeling that the police are trying to shield the culprit involved in the case,” they said.
State’s press fraternities have extended cooperation to the police and GoAP in every possible way, so that case can be solved at the earliest. “However, it has been noticed that both Capital Police and the GoAP are beginning to take press persons for granted in this regard. The APC and APUWJ may be forced to take extreme action if there is no headway in the case,” they added.

4 days EAC for students begins
ITANAGAR, Jan 09: The four days Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) sponsored by National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board, DST, Government of India and implemented by Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad began at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Arunachal Pradesh today.
50 students have enrolled for the camp. This is reported to be first such DST sponsored EAC in Arunachal Pradesh.

Like the previous years, hundreds of men, women and children of the community swarmed into the natural cave at ‘Pompik Adi’ at Pongging village outskirts, with bamboo poles and killed over a thousand bats as part of the festival.
It is believed that the practice of killing bats once in a year helps keep the natural demographic balance of bats in the hill site.
According to oral history, the first man of the community Tamut Panyang, had “bought” the hill site with the cave from the Komsing villagers some 200 years ago. The cave measuring 6.5 meters in height and 3.5 meters in breadth and 200 meters in depth is located at the left bank of the Siang River at Pongging.
Panyangs (Adi) feel that the festival is an occasion to bond with their fellow tribesmen. The festival has always been a source of merriment and a family reunion for them.
“The community bat hunting is an annual festival steeped in hundred year’s tradition.

Agriculture and rural development are thus still key to reducing poverty and hunger in the region.
Since the geographic areas most vulnerable to the effects of climate change are where most of the world’s poor live, the risk of not acting is particularly grave. There is enough evidence to show that the effects of climate change would be particularly devastating for the world’s disadvantaged communities that simply do not have the financial strength to cope with consequences like food scarcity, prolonged drought or floods.

Tourism is the second largest Industry after Oil and the largest single employer in the world because of which developed countries are making huge profit out of it. According to the American Chamber of Commerce, "basically there are three ways of increasing the wealth and business activity of a country, viz. the development of the agricultural front, progress in the Industry sphere and development in the Tourism field". Among the three, Tourism development is probably the quickest. From the economic point of view tourism is especially important in developing countries, like India. It is a catalyst to economic growth and foreign exchange earnings. Taking in view of these facts the Indian Tourism Policy was presented to both the Houses of Parliament on November 1982. Since then Indian Tourism is doing its best and also flow of fund in different states for tourism sector is being witnessed by the public time to time. In recent time our Minister, the Parliamentary Secretary, and senior officers of Tourism department are interestingly talking about the brightness and scope of Aurnachal Tourism as we have been seeing in local dailies, indeed, it is so nice to see such enthusiastic on the part of the concerned authorities to make OUR STATE a “Tourists’ Attraction / Destination.
In this connection I would like to mention some important components of tourism which are inevitable as far as providing of a major boost for development of Arunachal Tourism is concerned. To be frank visit of the spot and describing its beauty to the public and construction of colourful Tourist Lodge is not enough. But Planning, Management and side Development of the particular spot is very important for tourist destination and attraction.
Following are the main Components of TOURISM : 1) Pleasing Weather, 2) Scenic Beauty, 3) Historical & Cultural factors, 4) Accessibility, 5) Amenities, 6) Accommodation, 7) Hospitality.
Therefore, the role of the above mentioned components are the main factors which will lead to Mass Tourism and Tourist Flow in the state. So the concerned authority have to make a specific plan for well preservation of Historical and Cultural factors and side development of Scenic Beauty and regular maintenance and renovation of facilities like accommodation, Catering, Entertainment, local transport and communication etc. that the modern tourists need. The job of the authority is not complete, after the fulfillment of these necessities there is another important factor which will play the main role in inviting the International and Domestic Tourists, this is in the form of " ADVERTISEMENT". To attract tourists, advertisement of the particular tourist destination, attractive scenic beauty and available facilities to make the stay comfort must be well exposed and exhibited in every corner of the public places and through the genuine Tour Operator and Travel Agent registered under Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO). It can impacts the curiosity of the tourists from various part of the world and thereby tourists can experience ultimate meaning of tourism with their different wish and habits on this land of peace.
